St. Josephs Miltown senior side continue their preparations for the upcoming championship opener on August 4/5th against Ennistymon. The loss of five players to emigration has left resources very tight due to an injury crisis but management are hopeful that many injuries will clear up before the game. After much uncertainty over score difference, the County board ordered a play-off between Miltown and Eire Og to determine the final Cusack Cup semi final place. In a tense low scoring game, Eire Og emerged victorous on a 0-8 to 0-7 scoreline. The minor team recorded a 1-8 to 0-6 victory over Kilmihil in the division 1 group game last week to recover from a loss to Eire Og in the opening game. The u-14 side emerged undefeated from their four group games but a very much understrength side bowed out to Lissycasey in the quarter final on a 2-10 to 1-8 scoreline. Efforts were made to play the game on an alternative evening when players would have been available. This however was not accomodated which was disappointing considering the effort that management had invested in the team during the year. However, much improvement was achieved throughout the season which is a very good reflection on all involved. The u-12 side have opened the West Clare championship with a comprehensive 4-10 to 2-5 victory over Kilrush.
