U16 County Semi Final Replay

U16 semi final replay ended in a draw again last night. Miltown 4-11 Naomh Eoin/O'Currys 3-14. Both teams must be highly commended for producing such a nailbiting game of a very high standard throughout. Miltown were losing by 1 point in injury time when full back Colin Hehir ventured forward & held his nerve, to point for Miltown to send the game to extra time. Chris Mongan and Sean Malone had scored Miltown's goals in the second half.

In extra time Sean Malone at last found some space and got two goals. With 6 minutes remaining in the extra time Miltown were 6 up and most people there assumed that the game was Miltown's but N Eoin/O'Currys pegged back St.Joseph's and leveled with the last kick of he game to send it to a second replay.

U16 County Semi Final

Miltown U16's & N.Eoin\O'Currys must meet again following an exciting semi final played in Kilkee last evening.Trailing 1-5 to 3 points at half time Miltown turned in a very impressive second half performance to make up the deficit and lead by three points with ten minutes to play. However N.Eoin\O'Currys were not finished and  leveled proceedings in the final minutes.Both teams will have to meet again with a place in the county final at stake.Date and venue for replay to be confirmed.

U12 round up

U12 League Division 2:

Round 1: Miltown 4-8 Kilmurry Ib 2-6

A really good start to the U12 league saw St.Joseph's over come Kilmurry in Quilty on 6th of April last. Miltown led at half time and managed to keep Kilmurry to 1 point in the second half. Miltowns goals came from Cian Mahoney (2), Ben Whelehan and Paul Keane.

Miltown Team: Sean Curtin, Evan Crowley, Darragh Flynn, Tadhg Flynn, Dylan Quinn, Ben Whelehan, Cillian O'Malley(C), Cormac Devitt, Paul Keane, Cian Mahoney, Shay Kilcullen. Subs: Mark Cunningham, Eoghan Cleary, Conal Meade, Andrew Skerritt, Liam Blake, Gavin Burke.

Round 2:  Shannon Gaels/Kilmihil 4-6 Miltown 3-3

Goals from Cian Mahoney (2) and Cormac Devitt were not enough to stop Miltown sufferring defeat in the 2nd round of the U12 league. In a close game which could have swung wither way, late scores for Shannon Gaels/Kilmihil proved decisive, as did the referees decision to disallow what appeared to be a legitimate goal from Paul Keane.

Division 5

Round 1: Shannon Gaels/Kilmihil 9-6 Miltown 6-4

Goals from Gavin Burke, Conal Meade and a super strike from corner forward Liam Blake, kept Miltown in the game until late on in the first division 5 game of the season. St. Joseph's had good performances from Andrew Skerrit, Rhys Whelehan and Harry Boyd in defence.

Feile 2013

The Miltown U14 team took part in the Feile competition at a windswept Quilty on Saturday.

Miltowns first game was against a strong Wolfe Tones team. Showing great skill and gritty determination  in very testing conditions Miltown over came their physically stronger opponents on a scoreline of  six points to two.

After a very short break the Miltown lads faced up to old rivals Kilmurray Ibrickane in their second game of the day. After a spirited performance Miltown eventually succumbed to the hosts who qualified for the semi finals of the competition.

Cusack Cup Defeat

Miltown suffered their second defeat of the Cusack Cup campaign on Friday evening in Lahinch against an impressive Ennistymon side.Finding scores very hard to come by Miltown trailed by seven points to two at half time with the Miltown points coming from Seanie Malone and Joe Curtin. The teams traded scores at the start of the second period before Ennistymon  established a six point lead.A late Michael Barry goal was answered by two Ennistymon points leaving a final score of Ennistymon 13 points Miltown 1-5

First U10 Blitz of the Year

Milltown hosted their first u10 blitz of 2013 on Saturday last. Teams from Cooraclare & St Breckans provided the opposition. Games were made up of 7 aside teams and emphasis was placed on skill points. In the spirit of the Go Games every game ended in a draw. Miltown accounted very well for themselves in every game in very difficult weather conditions. A trip to Kerry is in store for them next sat the 20th April. There they will play teams from Tarbert and Moyvane in a Munster blitz competition.

Impressive victory for Juniors

St. Josephs Miltown Junior side scored a very impressive battling 1-4 to 0-6 victory away to Cooraclare. Miltown led 1-4 to 0-2 at the break and defended excellently against the breeze in the second half to record their first win on the season. The scorers were as follows: Michael Hehir 0-3, Micheal Crehan 1-0 & Gerard Malone 0-1. Miltown's junior side are under new management this season and it is hoped to build on this result for the remainder of the league.

U10 and U12 teams in action

The U10 team host St.Breckans,Kilmurray Ibrickane and Cooraclare on Saturday 13th between 10.30 and 12.00 pm in their first Blitz of the season.The team has been training well over the last number of weeks and we wish them the best of luck on Saturday.

Following on from their impressive win against Kilmurray Ibrickane last time out,the U12 team travel to Kilmihil to take on Shannon Gaels \ Kilmihil on Friday evening at 6.30 pm.
