Miltown continued their unbeaten run in this years U14 Championship with a hard fought victory over a visiting KIB team in Miltown on Wednesday evening.
In a game played in wet and miserable conditions the ability of Miltown to score from play proved decisive with all their scores coming from open play.A fantastic penalty save from Miltown keeper John Curtin proved to be the turning point in an evenly contested second half.Miltown pushed on after this and a second goal for Ronan Meade and two late points ensured the home crowd went home happy.

U14 Championship
Miltown 5-10 Clarecastle 3-9
Miltown U14s got their 2014 Division 2 championship campaign off to a winning start with a hard fought victory over a visiting Clarecastle side on Monday.In what was definitely a game of two halves Miltown showed great tenacity and belief to overturn a seven point defecit at half time.Even in the first half when the scoreline wasn't looking too healthy Miltown's workrate and tackling were immense and this ensured that Clarecastle were still in reach at the start of the second half.
The second thirty minutes saw Miltown's midfield and forwards began to get on top and this soon became visible on the scoreboard with Clarecastle under increasing pressure and finding it difficult to get out of their own half.

Miltown's rollercoaster season in division 5 continued with defeat to last years Junior A champions Eire Og in Miltown on Sunday.Despite having the majority of possession and chances in the first half Miltown found scores very hard to come by, only the boot of the impressive Gary Egan with 6 points ensured Miltown held a two point lead at half time after an Eire Og goal late in the half.
The second half proved to be a tough one for Miltown who conceded 3-5.In reply Miltown could only muster 3 points despite again having the majority of possession.A missed penalty and the sending off of Gerard Malone did little to help Miltowns chances and Eire Og ran out nine point winners to inflict a second defeat on the home side.

Miltown 1-14 Lissycasey 2-6
Miltown maintained their 100% record in this seasons O'Gorman Cup with victory over visitors Lissycasey on Sunday evening.Two early goals from Lissycasey who started very strongly left Miltown reeling and facing an uphill battle against a stiff breeze.However as the half wore on Miltown began to grip on proceedings and got the scoreboard moving as half time approached eventually going in two points in arrears on a scoreline of 0-6 to 2-2 ,Miltowns scores coming from Gerard Malone (2),Eoin Curtin,Eoin Cleary,Enda Fox and substitute Gary Egan who replaced the black carded Joe Curtin. Indeed Miltown were unlucky not to be ahead at the interval when the Lissycasey keeper produced a great save to deny Conor Cleary from the penalty spot.
The second half saw Miltown increase their intensity and begin to pull away from the visitors with some fine scores from play. An Eoin Cleary goal after a superb run made sure Miltowns dominance in possession was turned into a healthy dominance on the scoreboard as the half progressed and gave the home support plenty to cheer.Scores from Eoin Cleary (1-3),Seanie Malone (3),Conor Cleary and Eoin Curtin meant Miltown eased ahead and now progress to the semi finals.

Miltown got their Cusack Cup campaign back on track with an emphatic victory over Ennistymon in Miltown on Saturday evening.An early Kieran Malone goal put Miltown in control and with the hosts on top in most positions it was only a matter of time before the scores started to flow.Six different players got on the score sheet before half time with points from Enda.Fox (2),Seanie Malone (2), Eoin Cleary, Eoin Curtin, and Darragh McDonagh ensuring Miltown went in ahead at the break on a scoreline of 1-7 to 0-5.
The second half proved to be a fruitful 30 minutes for the home team with scores coming thick and fast as Miltown's forwards and pulled the Ennistymon defence apart and created numerous chances. Three more goals from Seanie Malone, Eoin Curtin and sub Gerard Malone along with points from Seanie Malone,Eoin Cleary (2) Micheal Malone,Joe Curtin and Eoin Curtin ensured an impressive victory with Ennistymons' goal proving only a consolation score.

Miltown secure 3rd Cusack Cup victory
St. Josephs Miltown senior side continued their unbeaten start to the season when securing a hard fought one point victory over Doonbeg in Miltown today.
A determined Doonbeg side started brightly and kicked the opening three points. This combined with an early injury to Kevin Keavey put Miltown under pressure. Miltown came very much into the game in the second quarter to level at 0-5 each. In the minutes to half time, Enda Fox saw his rasping shot rebound from the crossbar while David Tubridy struck for a Doonbeg goal to leave the half time score at Doonbeg 1-6 Miltown 0-6. The half time introduction of John Meade helped Miltown gain a foothold at midfield. The move of Micheal Malone to the half forward line as a result was richly reqarded with Micheal hitting a tally of 1-3 from play in the second half. In the closing minutes, the teams were tied at 1-9 apiece when Darragh McDonagh kicked the winning score. Doonbeg battled to the very end despite finishing with 13 men as two players were issued straight red cards in the closing minutes. Miltown will hope that injuries picked up by a number of key players will prove not to be too serious ahead of a tough game away to Eire Og next week. Miltown continued on their winning ways on friday night with a four point victory over a visiting Ennistymon.
Missing a number of regulars Miltown put in a determined committed performance in cold breezy conditions to maintain their 100% record in this years competition.
In an evenly matched first half both sides found scores hard to come by and went in at half time level on a scoreline of 4 points all.
The second half was again a fairly even one with both sides defending well.A goal from Joe Curtin proved to be the difference between the sides. Indeed Miltowns victory would have been more impressive if a Gearoid Curtin goal had not been disallowed .

Miltown 2-6 Clondegad 1-5
A very strong second half performance ensured Miltown maintained their 100% record in this years Cusack Cup campaign with victory over the visiting Clondegad side.
Playing against a strong wind in the first half Miltown relied on their defensive organisation and a few missed frees to go in at half time behind by a point on a scoreline of 3-2 with Miltowns scores coming from the boot of Eoin Curtin.
The second half was barely a minute old when a Clondegad goal seemed to suggest a tough half for the home side,but Miltown reacted well and goals from Enda Fox and Kieran Malone along with points from Gearoid Curtin (2),Brian Curtin and Eoin Curtin ensured another victory to keep the encouraging start to the year rolling on.

Miltown 0-2 Kilrush\Killimer 6-10
Miltown U16s continued their championship campaign with a game against yet another amalgamation in a cold and windswept Hennessy Park on Saturday.
Playing against the wind in the first half Miltown were under severe pressure from the throw in and despite battling gamely could not stem the tide of Kilrush\Killimer attacks.
The early stages of the second half saw a Miltown side doing all they could to bring the game to their physically stronger opponents and two points from Diarmaid Meade and Joe Marrinan provided scant reward for all their hard work.
The notion of playing amalgamated sides in Division two is surely one that will have to be reviewed at County Board level for next season to ensure a more level playing field for all the teams involved.

Cusack Cup
Miltown 2-8 Kilrush 1-7
Miltown got their 2014 Cusack Cup campaign off to a winning start on Friday night in Kilrush with a well deserved win over the home side.Miltown started well and despite missing their clare u21 contingent outscored the shamrocks by 7 points to 4 in the first half. Eoin Curtin contributed 4 of these scores with the remainder coming from Enda Fox,John Meade and Joe Curtin. two quick fire second half goals from Enda fox and Kieran Malone put Miltown firmly in the driving seat and despite a spirited fightback from the home side a Tommy Flynn point ensured a first round victory.
Next up is a home tie versus Clondegad on Saturday 22nd at 4.30

Miltown 3 - 12 Clooney\Quin 1 -7
Miltown got their U16 championship back on track under lights in Miltown on Tuesday night against Clooney\Quin.Despite having a number of players who played a schools game earlier in the day Miltown began well and put their opponents under an amount of early pressure. Miltown went in at the break leading on a scoreline of 1-8 to 1-4 with Clooney scoring a fortunate goal on the stroke of half time.Joe Marrinan (1-2) and Diarmaid Meade (0-6) got the Miltown scores.
Clooney increased the pressure on the home side in the second half and found a wall off resolute Miltown defenders blocking their way to goal.A goal from Pat Haran put Miltown on the road to victory and relieved the pressure.Pat Haran was then taken down for a Miltown penalty, clinically converted by Diarmaid Meade and points from Joe Marrinan,Thomas Clancy and Niall hehir sealed the win

Miltown got their 2014 season off to a winning start against upcoming Championship opponents O'Currys in the O'Gorman Cup on Saturday in a breezy but dry Hennessy Park.
After a slow start Miltown began to exert a lot of pressure on the O'Currys defence with Micheal Malone and John Meade prominent in the midfield exchanges.
Two goals and a point from Eoin Curtin and scores from Kevin Keavey,Micheal Malone,Joe Curtin and Gearoid Curtin all from play meant Miltown went in a t half time leading by 2-5 to 2 points.

U16 Championship
Miltown 1-6 Naomh Eoin\O'Currys 6 - 11
Miltown began their U16 campaign with a comprehensive defeat against a powerful N.Eoin\O'Currys amalgamation under lights at Hennessy Park on Tuesday evening.Miltown were under serious pressure from the throw with some early scores setting down a marker for the rest of the game.Miltown eventually found their feet in the second quarter and produced some attractive attacking football to rock the peninsula side and went in at half time trailing 1-3 to 3 -5 with the Miltown goal coming from Sean Clancy.As the second have developed the physical strength of the visitors began to show and despite battling gamely Miltown were unable to make many inroads into the score.
