                                 Cusack Cup 2015 Round 1

Miltown v Cooraclare 21st March 2015 in Miltown

Miltown 2-5     Cooraclare 2-5

Miltown got their 2015 Cusack Cup campaign underway with a 2-5 a piece draw with Cooraclare in Miltown on Saturday. In a game marked with numerous mistakes on both sides a Miltown team missing a number of regulars battled gamely against newly promoted Cooraclare in ideal playing conditions. Miltown's first half goal came from a long range free which was fisted on by Joe Curtin, this led to a mix up in the Cooraclare defence and the ball eventually was adjudged to have crossed the line. Cooraclare replied with a goal of their own and went in at halftime leading on a scoreline of 1-3 to 1-2 , Miltown's points coming from Enda Fox and Brian Curtin.
An early second half point from Colin Hehir brought Miltown back on level terms and an Eoin Curtin free put them one up after 39 mins.A goal from close range by Eoin Curtin after Joe Curtin's fisted effort had come back off the post was quickly followed by a Seanie Malone point leaving Miltown 2-5 to 1-3 up as the game headed towards the final whistle.
Cooraclare refused to lie down and when referee Gerry Keane awarded them a penalty, Rory Donnelly took full advantage reducing the margin to the minimum. A Cooraclare point brought the teams level and despite chances at either end neither side could get the decisive score.
