Bleak weekend for Miltown football

St. Josephs Miltown senior team produced a most disappointing championship display when going down to Ennistymon by 0-13 to 0-3 on Saturday. There is not a lot to say from a positive viewpoint only to say that a huge improvement is needed if Miltown are to avoid a relegation battle. The next game will be on the weekend of August 18 + 19 where a win is a must to keep championshop hopes alive. Miltown will face one of other 7 first round losers. The team lined out as follows: Niall Quinn, Enda Malone, Enda O'Gorman, Brendan O'Brien, Michael Hehir, Gordon Kelly, Dara McDonagh (0-1), John Meade, Séan Meade, Graham Kelly, Gary Egan, Brian Curtin, Michéal Malone, Eoin Curtin (0-2), Kevin Keavey. Subs used: Séanie Malone for Michael Hehir, Gerard Malone for Kevin Keavey, Michael Talty for Gary Egan, Martin Rynne for Brendan O'Brien To cap a miserable weekend, the Junior 'A' side were unable to field for their game against Clarecastle on Sunday. Four players were lost to the senior side on Saturday but the failure of some players to show on Sunday is a sad reflection on their commitment. The team will hope to re-organise and field in the remaining group games. On a more positive the minor side recorded a comprehensive 2-16 to 1-2 victory over Cratloe. The ladies club are also going well and have reached the semi final of the intermediate championship. They have recorded wins over Wolftones 3-9 to 2-2 and a 4-10 to 3-4 victory over Coolmeen,
