Local Referee on the Munster Scene
Munster U16 Final Clare v Galway Senior Challenge
Miltown Referee Barry Kellys career continued on its upward path last weekend when he refereed his first Munster games at the Munster U16 Competition in Rathkeale. Barry took charge of the first round game between Tipperary and one of the two Cork sides. He followed this by officiating in the shield semi final between Cork and Limerick. To cap off a great day, Barry was given the honour of being the man in the middle for the Munster final between Tipperary and S.Kerry.After two matches played in sweltering heat Barry showed his fitness and played his part in an exciting final eventually won by the Kingdom.Hopefully this tournament will mark the beginning of a long and successful career for Barry on the provincial and national scene in years to come.Roll on Croke Park!!!
Umpires for the day were Tara Rynne,Maurice Reidy,Sean Ryan and Michael Howe.
Miltown's other Referee Niall Quinn is also making his mark on the local scene in only his second season as an official and we wish both lads all the best.
