THE SEASON STARTS HERE!!!

Ennistymon 1-9 Miltown 1-8 @ Lahinch

New manager, James Healy's, first game in charge results in a marginal loss to Ennistymon. In what can only be described as an experimental lineup, Miltown had the better of the exchanges and were unfortunate to come out on the losing side.
Dessie Molohan got the first score of the season with a fine point from about thirty meters, about 10 minutes in. 10 minutes later he squared a good ball to Gary Egan to score the opening goal of the season. Miltown lead 1-5 to 1 point at half time, wind assisted albeit, with points from Molohan (2), Egan, Gordon Kelly and Kevin Burke.
Miltown started well again in the second half and played with composure and pace. Enda Malone did well at wing back setting up numerous attacks down the right. Miltown led 1-8 to 0-3 with about 12 minutes to go but Ennistymon were awarded a dubious penalty which was converted. Ennistymon tagged on six points to win by 1.
While the result was disappointing the performance was not. Ennistymon had plenty of subs and the changes they made exposed the tired Miltown legs. Overall very positive, David Cleary was excellent at right full back, as was Enda O'Gorman in the other corner. Gordon Kelly and Enda Malone had good games as usual. John Meade played well around the middle ably assisted by Burke, who given a few games there could do a job effectively. Up front Dessie looked sharp, Garry Egan got 1-3 and David Talty grew in confidence in the sweeper role as the game went on. A decent start to the season, more to come hopefully.
