Another draw in Cusack Cup

Miltown and Kilmurry Ibrickane remain joint top of the Cusack Cup division 1 after a rip-roaring encounter in Quilty this evening. The game finished on a 3-7 to 2-10 scoreline. Miltown started well in the opening half but recorded a number of wides before Joe Curtin goaled to open the scoring. The remainder of the half produced some nice scores as Miltown went on to lead 1-5 to 0-3 at half time having played with wind assistance. Miltown however had incurred two injuries in the opening half with Joe Curtin and Kevin Burke being replaced. Kilmurry were on a top in the early stages of the second half but only registered one point. Miltown then hit a purple patch to score 1-2 with Conor McKenna hitting the goal. This left the score ten minutes into the second half at 2-7 to 0-4 in favour of Miltown. From here on, Kilmurry produced some sparkling play to hit an unanswered 2-6 to lead 2-10 to 2-7 entering the closing stages. Miltown summoned great character and in a late attack Brian Curtin drove home a goaL. The result leaves Miltown in joint top with one final game to be played against Doonbeg. Unfortunately, due to the economic climate we live five players are departing to the US to work for the summer. The team lined out as follows: Niall Quinn, Enda Malone, Kevin Burke, Brendan O'Brien, Gearoid Curtin(0-2), Gordon Kelly, Enda O'Gorman, Sean Meade, Seanie Malone, Gary Egan, Micheal Malone (0-2), Brian Curtin (1-0), Dessie Molohan (0-3), Graham Kelly, Joe Curtin (1-1) Subs used: David Cleary for Brendan O'Brien, Kevin Keavey for Joed Curtin, Conor McKenna (1-0) for Kevin Burke, John Meade for Sean Meade
