Munster Intermediate championship

Miltown 1-8 Currow 1-7

On a cold wet afternoon in the famous Hennessy Park Miltown lit up the Munster Intermediate championship with an historic victory over Kerry champions Currow to record a first victory by a Clare club over Kerry opposition in this competition.
The foundations for the victory were laid in a very impressive first half display which meant Miltown held a half time lead of  6 points 3 with scores from Eoin Cleary (2) Darragh Mc Donagh (2),Seanie Malone and Conor Cleary. The dismissal of Paudie Collins just before half time seemed to galvanise the Currow team who cut the gap to the minimum early in the second half before a Kevin Keavey point settled Miltown.
The decisive score for Miltown a goal from Gordon Kelly following great work from Eoin Cleary re-established a five point lead and a Micheal Malone point seemed to put the hosts in control.
Currow showed their battling qualities and a lucky goal brought them right back into the game. With minutes remaining there was only the bare minimum between the teams, but with Miltown showing great composure and a colossal work rate there was only going to be one winner.
The final whistle was greeted with scenes of great celebration as another page was added to the illustrious history of Miltown St.Josephs.Great credit must be given to the players and management who have worked so hard and played so well after the disappointment of last year and brought us to our first Munster final
