A Dessie Molohan goal 13 minutes from time gave Miltown the points in the opening round of the Cusack Cup. The game had to be switched to Kilrush due resurfacing work at Pairc MacAonghusa, but this didn't phase St.Joseph's who despite playing in to the wind were level at half time 4 points a piece.
The second half was still close, however following Molohan's goal Miltown led by 4. Kilrush rallied by some wasteful shooting allowed the visitors to secure the victory.
