Gaels blow Miltown away

O'Gorman Cup

Shannon Gaels 1-11 Miltown 0-7 @ Miltown (15/03/09)

Shannon Gaels handed Miltown their first defeat of the season in this second round game. The Gaels had the aid of a wind in the first half and led 6 points to 3 at half time. The main feature of the half had to be the wayward shooting from both sides. Miltown attacked well and points from Gary Egan, Joe Curtin and a fine score from midfielder John Meade account for their scores.
St.Joseph's started the second half brightly and managed close the gap to 3 points, 10 to 7, with about 10 minutes to go. David Talty and Enda Malone caused Shannon Gaels huge problems, while Heff and John Meade grafted well around the middle of the field. Gary Egan again getting on the scoresheet and three points from the rejuvenated Kevin Keavey. Unfortunately for Miltown that was to be the end of the scores. Shannon Gaels were fitter and sharper throughout and made their physical advantage pay in the latter stages. Noel Kennedy's goal late on sealed Miltown's fate.
