New season kicks off in style

The first weekend of multiple teams being in action for the 2009 season proved to be most successful for all Miltown Malbay teams in action.
The under-14 team were first in to action in the Feile football team competition.
They suffered a narrow defeat to Ennistymon in their first game to setup a winner takes all battle against neighbours Kilmurry Ibrickane to see who advanced to the next stage.
With a much improved performance, Miltown advanced to the playoff stages with a comfortable victory. The now face a three way blitz against Doonbeg and Doora Barefield next weekend to see who claims the 4th and final semi final place. Many thanks to the management team who accepted their roles at very short notice prior to this competition.
The Junior A team also kicked off their Division 4 league campaign with a 2.5 to 0.8 victory over Clooney-Quin. The management introduced a number of youngsters to the team and one of these Enda Fox produced the goods in style with a brace of goals.
The Senior team sit jointly on top of the Division 1 table with neighbours Kilmurry Ibrickane after two games of the campaign. A first half Kevin Keavey goal proved the crucial score against last years county finalists Liscannor. The final score was 1.8 to 0.8
