Results & Fixtures Update

Another successful weekend prevailed last weekend as the adult sides all had positives results.
The senior side played Liscannor in round 4 of the Cusack Cup and recorded a 2-9 to 0-10 victory. Liscannor were the better side for the first 40 minutes but a very strong finish by Miltown led to victory. Liscannor led 0-6 to 0-2 at half time but a Kevin Keavey goal midway through the second half threw the game wide open. Liscannor then had Ronan Slattery sent off for a dangerous high tackle on Micheal Malone. This combined with the switch of Gordon Kelly to midfield which nullified the previous dominance of Brian Considine were key factors in the win. Two Michael Barry points and a goal from Joe Curtin sealed the win.
The team lined out as follows: Conor O'Loughlin, Enda Malone, Kevin Burke, David Cleary, Ian Sexton, Gordon Kelly, Graham Kelly, Sean Meade, Michael Barry(0-2), David Talty, Gary Egan(0-1), Micheal Malone(0-1), Niall Quinn(0-1), Eoin Curtin(0-2), Joe Curtin(1-0). Subs used: Shane Curtin for Enda Malone(inj), John Meade for David Talty, Kevin Keavey(1-1), Enda O'Gorman for Sean Meade, Michael Talty for Ian Sexton.
The Junior B side received a walkover from St. Josephs Doora Barefield in their league tie. On Monday evening, the Junior A side continued their recent impressive form with a 1-14 to 2-8 victory over Ennistymon.
This weekend sees the senior side away to Kilkee in round 5 of the Cusack cup. A win here would set Miltown up with a good chance of a semi final slot but Kilkee will be a formidable challenge on the back of an impressive win over Clondegad last weekend.

The under-16 side face Doora Barefield in the semi final of the Div 1 championship this Monday. Miltown played Doora Barefield last Monday in their final group game last Monday and lost out on a 2-7 to 1-7 soreline. All concerned will be hoping the boys can produce the goods when the stakes are higher this Monday. Best of luck to all involved and all support would be much appreciated. The tie is to be played in Ennistymon on Monday evening at 7pm.
The preview below appeared on the hoganstand.com website:
"St. Joseph's Doora/Barefield v St. Joseph's Milltown @ Ennistymon

The battle of the Saint Joseph's is expected to be a good game with little separating either side. They played each other last Monday in Gurteen where the home side came through by a goal. Doora/Barefield are showing a lot of form recently and aside from their opening day loss to Wolfe Tones they have only lost one game since which came against Ennistymon in round 4. They have a skillful side with players such as Donal O'Halloran, David Clancy, Aaron Lundy, Daragh Keirn, David Conroy, Finn O'Reilly and Ciaran Browne in their ranks. They will be hoping to revenge the defeat of two years ago when Milltown beat them in a cracking semi final tie of the Clare U14 Feile Peil na nOg. On the other hand, Milltown are the dark horses for this championship. Their path to the semi final is similar to Barefield in that they only lost two games, the already mentioned tie last week and to Wolfe Tones in round 5. They are likely to include the Cleary twins, Eoin and Conor, Seamie Parra, Daragh Pender, Aidan McGuane, Kevin Downes and Donal Keane. This could be very tight with both sides having some fine players and this was evident in their clash last week. It will be close but on their recent impressive form St. Joseph's Doora/Barefield might just shade it.

Verdict: St. Joseph's Doora/Barefield"
